Halloween Preparation

A few weeks ago my sister came to visit. While she was here we hit up a pumpkin farm & an apple orchard. Besides buying the usual carving pumpkin and gourds, we also bought a few baking pumpkins.

We made some very delicious Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

and some super simple Pumpkin Soup.

She had brought some fake black carvable pumpkins. Which we decorated with rhinestones.

I did not carve the other pumpkin, but instead sprayed it and the gourds with some shiny clear paint and used them as a centerpiece.

This past week I finished up my Halloween table runner. (I don't have many holiday decorations, so every little thing helps.) I used this pattern from Moda Bakeshop.

The fabric is just some cheap stuff I got at Walmart to try out, and the batting was some leftover I found in my Grandma's quilting supplies that my mom and I have been SLOWLY going through. So it was done very cheaply.

The quilting is what I am most proud of. I took my straight line quilting abilities and made a spider web. I am not sure how I like the look of it, but it was a lot of fun to do.
I always finish my projects late at night, and then I get so anxious to take pictures and send them off to family. So my pictures are always quite dark. One day I will work on taking better pictures.

I will be linking up to

  7. Awesome decs! I love the rhinestone pumpkins. I spray painted my pumpkin pink this year and poured glitter on it. :0) (I have two little boys so I have to get my girly in when I can.)

Did you know that spiderweb quilting is traditionally thought to bring good luck? You see it in antique quilts sometimes. It definitely looks great on that runner.
