TGIFF is HERE!!!

 Welcome everyone!!!
Today I am honored to be hosting Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday.

Well, let's get right to it.

I have been having trouble getting back into the swing of things in the new year.
But I do have a big finish, or at least a big one for me.
I have joined my first Bee this year.

(there's still room if you want to join.)

I was asked to make a tree block.
That was about all the direction we were given.
So here it is:

(If you look closely you can see it needs a tad bit more work)
This is my first Bee, first time using stabilizer, first time making something for another sewer/ quilter....
A lot of firsts.
I really do like how it turned out though.

Go ahead and link up you finishes.
Then sit back and check out what everyone else was busy doing this week.

I am getting ready to snuggle in, as we will be in a winter storm watch tonight through tomorrow.
Here's to staying warm.

PIDI #2

Not sure what PIDI (Pinned It & Did It) is?

So today as I was getting ready for work, I remembered a hairdo blog that I pinned.
Here is the blog (http://www.thesmallthingsblog.com/) that has a million things on it.

But here is what I attempted

It was not too hard, and when I have more time, I think I could perfect it more.
For a 5 minute first try while I was running out the door...
here are some snapshots.
(After a few failed self-photos, I had to enlist the hubby, who thought it was weird I was taking a picture of my hair, esp at 5:50am...)

It looked really good.
Then I tried to mess with it to fix one piece.
It went downhill from there.
So these pictures are the almost good pictures!

Have you Pinned It & Did It this week?

PIDI #1

I am totally making this up!
Maybe it will catch on.

Ever since I started pinning
Follow Me on Pinterest
I have been trying to figure out how to start actually doing.
You know what I mean right?

So I have a wedding board....
but I am already married, and my baby sister is taking time planning,
so I can't jump in and help with details yet.

I have a baby board....
but no baby.
Maybe someday!

I have a bathroom board....
but no interest in renovations or sprucing up yet.

You get the picture.
The two boards I think I will get the most out of, at least right now, is the FOOD and the QUILTY one.

So yesterday, as I am daydreaming working at work...
I am starting to think about dinner.
What to make.... what to make....
I am racking my brain for the usuals:
-order pizza (did that Saturday)
-make chili (did that last week)

And I got to thinking,
why not make something I pinned off of  Follow Me on Pinterest.
Right?
That's why we have it.
And then I had the great idea to do a little review on it.
Hence PIDI (Pinned It & Did It)!!!!
So, here goes.

YUMMY!
I loved it.
It even looked like this when it came out of the oven.
I say, go pin it and try it.
Let me know what you think.

And let me know what you have tried on  Follow Me on Pinterest!!!

It feels like....

-20 right now!
I cannot believe on Tuesday I took the dog for a walk in a long sleeve t-shirt!

Anyway, no Friday finishes from me this week.
I have been taking it easy.
Next week is a different story though.
I will be hosting:

So go check out what everyone else is up to.
Then go sew up a storm.
Finally, come back here next Friday and show us what you did.

And just because I am dreaming of warm vacations,
here are some photos form my most recent vacation.

New Orleans
Costa Maya
Belieze
Honduras
Cozumel

Hopefully These will keep me warm until June!

WIP Wednesday

I just have a quick WIP report today.
I have not had much time this year to get back into sewing.

I did order and receive a darning/ embroidery foot.

I practiced with it a bit & will work on my SewCalGal's FMQ challenge piece this weekend.
(See Sidebar)
You can see my practice leaves, my name, my husbands name, January, March, etc...

I also started to work on a Bee Block.
Its supposed to be a Tree of Life block, without much direction (which has proved to be fun).
I started to make a practice one because I am impatiently waiting for my Kona white fabric to come in the mail.

I don't like it, so I sketched another idea out.
Only time will tell if it turns out anything like this...

Go check out what everyone else is up to!

I decided I was going to keep track of the books I had read for the year.
I read 34!!!
By far, my favorite was The Hunger Games, the first book.
(I read it BEFORE it was super-popular)
I might just have to read it again before I see the movie!
