Back in October 2009 I took a quilting class and made a Christmas table runner.
It inspired me to take a quilting class in January 2010 to make a Turning Twenty Again quilt.
During those few months of classes I became engrossed in finding out more about quilting.
After a lot of Googling, I discovered a whole world of quilting blogs.
I also discovered the bloggers quilt festival.
I dreamed of the day when I could post something.....
I can't believe I am finally doing it!
So, here it is.
The Dr. Seuss Quilt
The past two years I have made themed place mats for a friend to decorate a table at a charity lunch.
As we finished up last year I told her about all the cute Dr. Seuss fabric out there and that it should be her theme for her next table.
She liked the idea.
Then I told her I should make a quilt, use it as a tablecloth, and then auction or raffle it off.
She liked that idea.
Here is what I started with.
I started cutting and framing, not knowing my direction.
(DANGEROUS!!)
Here is what came of it.
I experimented with quilting.... swirlys!!!!
Then I had to figure out the back!!!!!
Amazingly, it actually came out close to the sketch.
I designed it.
This quilt is special to me mainly because as I was making it, I HATED it.
Nothing was looking good, so I just hurried up and finished it.
Once it was done, I LOVED it.
I missed it the second I gave it away.
The funny thing is, the raffle for this quilt did not work out.
So my friend brought it back with her.
Can you believe it????
She said she may host a quilt auction at a later date.
I told her she could have this quilt for it if she wanted it.
But I am secretly hoping I can put it too good use before then and make her another one.
Which poses the question....
Will I fall in love with the other one too?
Check out everything else going on at Blogger's Quilt Festival.
