The first time I saw a Twister quilt was by Melissa @ Happy Quilting.
It looks so hard, and yet its so easy.
While I was at a LQS, they had kits to make a twister quilt.
I really just wanted the template.
She sold it to me for $1.
So I sewed together 20 Indian Summer by Riley Blake charm squares.
I added a border and away I cut.
It seemed sinful to cut a finished quilt top...
but this is what I finished up with.
I cheated on the binding.
I cut the batting and top exact, then cut the backing 1" larger all around.
I folded the edge of the backing to the quit top, then folded it over onto the top and sewed it down.
I don't know that I love it.
But it was quick and easy and gave me decent results...
I forget its size, but I remember it was a tad bit smaller than a fat quarter (22"x18").
I would totally suggest twisting up a quilt!

I think your twister is great, "cheater" binding and all! I definitely agree that it feels wrong to cut into a pieced quilt top, but you can't argue that the finished product isn't fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIf you loved Hunger Games, try Divergent by Veronica Roth, another YA author. Similar setting (dystopian future etc.) and equally gripping, in my opinion.
